Cook your own food in Munich: Check out Grill & Grace

Some weekends ago I got into a plane and went to visit my boyfriend in Munich. It was a great trip and at last, I could walk around the city without it being pouring with rain (at least on Saturday)! 🙂 We had a really nice time showing my boyfriend’s sister and her boyfriend around and very much enjoyed finding new places near my boyfriend’s apartment. However, on Saturday night, we really didn’t know where to go to have dinner and we were not in the mood to walking too far. Therefore, we decided to try out a restaurant that we had found a few hours ago that looked very nice and had a really interesting concept: you have to grill your own meat!

The restaurant, Grill & Grace, has a cool environment, with long tables where you can share a table with other groups of people (very german style or, you can opt to have a more private dinner at a table for two or in a nook).

We were seated at one of these looong tables and they handed out a menu (as always) where we could choose from different types of meat which we then had to grill. However, they also had other dishes such as burgers.

As it was our first time, all of us wanted to try out the grill but we had no idea about the kind of meat listed on the menu. Therefore, a really nice waitress helped us out. She explained us how much fat was in each meat and other peculiarities which I cannot remember 😉

After the explanation and a lot of “uhm, what should I get.. the t-bone sounds good but maybe it’s too much for me…” we ordered our food. After that, we were taken to the grill where another kind lady asked us if we liked our meat rare, medium or well done. Depending on the type of meat we had ordered and the doneness we preferred, we were given a number. In my case it was 6, meaning that my meat had to be on the grill for 6 minutes and had to be turned over every 2 minutes.

After that short period of time (it can go from as little as 4 minutes to as maybe 15 minutes), we were able to enjoy our meal, which was amazing! Specially the meat! It was great and it turned out to be exactly as I like. At the beginning I was a bit skeptical about me having to grill my own food, as I am not the best cook on this planet… However, it turned out to be a great dinner 🙂 and I really recommend it to everyone who visits Munich!
